    Barrel problems Archived Message

Trying to fit a mismatched barrel to a matching reciever and forend. Filed the barrel in all the appropriate places and it fits fine. I proceeded to snap the forend on and it was a little tight but I wanted it to be snug so I continued to push the forend onto the barrel. Unfortunately, it was too tight. The barrel lug that the "J" spring fits to started to move up the barrel. The lug pushed on the strip of metal that is soldered on and connects the barrels. It has now came loose from the barrel about 3 inches up. I guess the strip will have to be re-soldered and the lug will have to be fixed where it will not move. My question is, what is the best way to fix this problem? I am capable of minor repairs but when it comes to things like this I would pay(if needed) to have it fixed by someone with a little more experience in fixing barrels. If it does need to be professionally repaired who is the best person to do the work? Does Buck Hamlin do this type of work? Thanks guys for any help.
