Thank you for response and insight. I was at a recent gun show and came across a nice 16 gauge LCSmith. The date for the firearm was 1947 and was in excellent condition. Several pundits, know it alls, and "you don't want that year" experts offered a lot of varied opinions but no one could come up with some solid reasons why these particular year shotguns were not "real Smiths". After careful consideration of their advice I bought the shotgun and it is a real pleasure to shoot!! Thanks again for your take on the 46'-50' Smiths.
