Re: L C Smith 1946-1950
Mike, you have opened a real can of worms with many different opinions out there.I will express my take.On the negative side:Fifteen years ago and before we organized this wonderful organization,"The Blue Book" viewed the late guns being worth as much as a third less. These ideas seemed to have been pushed aside now by many. The wood fit and checkering can be not as nice. Some trigger pulls can be very stiff, but can be touched up by the right folks. On the plus side:The blue and case colors hold up much better or remember these guns are much newer....The raised ribs on the late guns are a nice feature and help add weight. The 20gauge and 16gauge guns have 2.750 chamber lengths. The 16s have larger bore diameters, which I like.I have both the older guns and the later ones. Both are a joy to own and shoot.Hope that this may be of some help to you.Best of luck.Charlie.
