This is another one of the "convention oddities" that I enjoy collecting. This one is from a "pre Collectors United" event/gathering that was hosted by the Atlanta Barbie Club back in 1991. In other words, a prelude to a much bigger event, but big enough to have their own doll.
Under the Big Top Barbie was designed by Barry Dutton and came with a certificate of authenticity, a button, and the box was signed by him at the event. I don't know much more, other than that these events were pretty common during this time period but that the dolls given out at them have disappeared over the years for a number of reasons. I love that she is blingy and over the top. Her box is in rough shape, but at this point, all of them probably are as the glue dries out. I've used glue dots to put it back together.
