Seems breeder should be interested in number weaned no matter the end use. I do not understand why some one would continue to breed pigs from a genetic line that has failed to produce a reasonable number of pigs weaned per litter. Or why a breed association would continue to register such animals. As the local food movement continues to grow (believe in it or not) a source of local pork may be come very profitable and sourcing breeding stock for it a valid business.
