I was aboard the J. W. McAndrew along with a buddy of mine, David Yerkes, when it collided with the French aircraft carrier. Our ship was severely damaged and as I indicated previously, most of the troops in Hold #1 were killed. Contrary to your statement, the ship did not sink. It was abandoned by the rest of the convoy and limped along until it reached the Azores, where the mutiny occurred.
