I didn't know of a Mutiny at the Azores but I do
remember a threatened one the second day after the dropping of the second bomb and the unconditional surrender. I saw a soldier telling
the head Army "HONCHO", and I quote:
"Sir,the war is over and we will not go to Japan for we have done what we came to do and I have blown up things bigger than this ship and this ship will not go through the Panama Canal,Sir, do you hear!!" The next day we headed home. If
they ever did anything to the soldier, I don't
know but I am sure there were many who would have helped him. cal
