We sailed to Manila PI and back to sf in june of
45.We had 1 ships galley that served the same food to both navy and mm.I now receive 20 percent disabilty for my hearing loss due to lack of ear protection from the 20mm noise. The navy gunner had ear phones on that gave him some protection. As far as the money goes at that time
I probably would have payed to serve.I was signed
on to to a liberty ship in the port of stockton ca when the bomb was dropped in august of 45.For me the war was over and i jumped ship.I was tried by a military court at 630 Sampson st in sf.The judge was aLT commander in the coast guard
and they assigned an ensign to defend me.If i was a civilian why a military court. What ever my papers werw suspended for 3 months.Today at 79 i look back on it as one of the best times of my life.6 of my seven children have served in the military and it has served them well.I also served 1 hitch in the army in Japan.
