Nah just kidding, I didn't realize you were looking for another project. I had just assumed you wanted to swap all your stuff to a two door.
Since you have a 5 speed with a/c and want to keep both of those things, sticking with the 1.6 seems like a reasonable option.
I had dreams of mine being a blow through turbo, but doing it right was a little above my budget. You already have a turbo car though.
How about a high compression stroker, screw the carb though and go with a megasquirt setup. (I can't even afford to type Haltech into google)
I like VW diesels and Buick 215's, I'd probably go with a rotary engine if I had a garage and welder. I saw some pictures awhile back of a chevette with a straight six in it. They're longer than the engine bay, It would be nose heavy and gutless, but just plain cool looking. Opel CIH engines nearly bolt up to the Chevette transmissions. But I'm sure you've already got something in mind.
