- T-5 and drive shaft all bolted up nicely
- S10 clutch was too big for the flywheel according to the mechanic, so we re-installed the old Chevette clutch. I'm unsure which Chevette clutch. The car is a 1981.
- Neither crossmember worked, so they had to fabricate one. That wasn't cheap.
- Now the car drives, but the clutch slips when you get on it. It didn't do this before, but then again I gave it the feathering of a lifetime driving it with it stuck in 4th gear, so maybe I just fried it. He said it appeared to still have "30% if its life left."
- I'm interested in a detailed explanation of what some of you have done for an upgraded clutch. I think Rob was the one who had done the S10 swap. Rob, do you remember what flywheel did you use? What pressure plate? What throw-out bearing. The S10 flywheel is a 1/2inch wider in diameter so the starter would have to be shimmed or something, yeah? How did you get around all that?
- He also mentioned the five speed transmission mount was showing its age. Any idea if those can be found anywhere anymore?
I'll post some pics here when I get them.
