We read in chapter 17 in the Book of Acts about Paul speaking to the Athenians about the Heavenly Father. The Greeks worshipped many gods and used them to explain all aspects of thier lives. Is our society any different? We hear during the Christmas season that the "Spirit of Giving" is in the air. The only spirit that exists is the Holy Spirit. Still, many look to every other reason for the call to give. We see charities on T.V. giving back? Why? To honor our Lord?
This "Spirit of Giving" is like the forgotten god of Athens. Has our society gone so far away from the Lord that they will manufacture a spirit, when as Paul says, "He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need." (Acts 17:24-25 NLT)
Do you feel our nation has forgotten the Forgotten God…The Holy Spirt…and replaced him with idols, slogans, and images?
