Dredging and managing the levels of Long and Horseshoe Lakes is the only long-term solution to flooding in the Nothern half of the American Bottoms IF water can freely pass between the two reservoirs.
I am actively working with elected officials every day to make this a priority. MESD Engineer Mr. Charles Juneau is an exceptional asset. MadCo Stormwater coordinator Steve Brendel and Matt Brandmeyer is assisting.
Mr. Juneau designed a shovel-ready project that creates a conduit between Long and Horseshoe Lakes that solves the connection problem by running a massive conduit underneath Lake Drive at a cost of $5M.
We have a way to store 5,000,000,000 gallons of water relatively economically if we can transfer it there, and improve life, especially along Long Lake.
You pay a special sales tax just for flood control. When water is around your ankles, and your toilet won't flush,it doesn't matter whether your a Republican or a Democrat. Let em all know... I'm from the tri-cities and I vote.
Start with local Village Board Members, and just work your way up through the County, State and Federal levels: Where do you stand on local flood control, and what have you done about it?
In the mean time, I will work diligently on solving day to day problems and will stay active on what has turned out to be a rewarding dialogue. Thank You.
