    I'll stand by what I've said for ages. The townships are no longer needed. Most anything listed on this page can be handled by another government agency with some adjustment.

    That being said, the number for Shipley equates to $33,000 a year. That seems a reasonable amount to run the place.

    I don't get the multiple "deputy clerks" either. Perahps these are simply secretaries in the office who were given a title.

    We should all be concerned as to why Darlene is getting a check. Is she a consultant? Was she approved as such by the town board (Granite City aldermanic council)?

    I don't know Ken Davis so I don't know if the two employees are his relatives. They could just as easily be relatives of alderman Bill Davis.

    The van drivers perform a good service, taking meals to the elderly. It seems a very reasonable cost considering the good.

    There are definitely questionable expenses and I do wonder if anyone every does "question" them or do they just rubber stamp?
