Just as an FYI, most of the payday loan places came here under Selph. Ed and his council did indeed pass ordinances limiting pawn shops and through police pressure under his watch, a couple of those closed. Edwardsville has a couple of those payday loan places too. Maybe you should let them know they're on the brink of collapse.
Just as an FYI, the route 3 corridor development stalled because of the decertification of the levees. There's new discussion on projects on Route 3 now that the levees have been repaired. Ed, Bob Shipley and others worked with our state representatives and Congressman Costello to get this on a fast track.
Nobody goes downtown but GC people? Better take a ride on a Saturday evening. There were Missouri plates in front of Aelios Pizza just last Saturday. I even commented on it to Mrs. O.
Here's what you need to do. Put Art's plan of attack on here. Post his agenda on here. Tell us how he will bring business to Route 3. No smoke screen, a solid plan because any of us can say we're going to develop that area.
Let's talk about what Art and other county board members have done for Granite City. NOTHING! Our county board reps have done nothing for Granite City since Nellie Hagnauer passed away. Petrillo, Asadorian, Hawkins, Novasich? They've sat on their hands while county monies have gone to helping Edwardsville, Glen Carbon and Maryville. If his accomplishments on that board are an indication of what he'll do as mayor, you're in trouble.
