Little Elcooksta at the doc playing on his phone while waiting, Big Elcooksta hears the doc rustling the folder outside the door (because Big Elcooksta is hyper-vigilant, sure...but its pretty obvious the doc is coming in, like he is giving you a head's up..cuz you know..he's busy and he knows little elcooksta is probably playing games on his phone)...
"Hey Dude, give me the phone."
Little elcooksta, being a properly disciplined kid (cuz he's got that ass whipped) smiles and says "ok dad."
So, no..... you can rest easy.. some of us out there still (and it may just be me...) discipline ...

Seriously, you old timers would get a kick out of my "turn 2".
I put up my fingers in a "2" gesture, and I rotate it (you squids or marines may know the turn 2 sign)... its like a switch, lol, because if my kids are in eyesight they know its time to go.
They'll sag their little shoulders, but they know Dad's ready to go and it would be very disadvantageous to debate..
Rest easy..this probably happened in your generation as well, just didn't have an asshat like "Miss Manners" (seriously?!!?) with a platform
