With the underground avenues of purchasing all things illegal such as "the black market". Criminals, or those wanting to get guns, are going to get them. Putting more restrictions on those people that go about getting guns the right way, isn't going to help at all, maybe just make it a little more expensive for those bad guys to get their gun. As far as the president being a hypocrite because he and his family are surrounded by armed guards, I see the point. If the only way to protect him and his family is to have armed guards protecting him, why shouldn't I have that availability for myself and my family? I know he and his family are more of a target for criminal action being the president and all, but that don't mean my family shouldn't be protected as well. And then there's the additional control that may help reduce tragedies. I don't think more control needs to be done to control the law abiding people, more punishment needs to be done to those using guns in crimes and those caught providing those guns. It's become so commonplace to turn on the news and see another shooting or armed robbery that guns violence just don't mean anything anymore. Cops all over the country are complaining that they do their best to get these criminals off the streets and they are right back out after a slap on the wrist. Until it becomes more frightening for a criminal to brandish a weapon in public, especially during a crime, there will be no reduction in guns involved crimes. Quit trying to punish the law abiding by revoking their rights.
