I have ranted about this particular subject on this very board for many years.
If you need assistance to feed yourself and or your children, I get it, I wouldn't watch anyone go hungry.
BUT, at least cook. You can get so much more bang for your LINK card buck by buying meats, vegetables, dairy...and you can always buy the staples in order to bake cookies, pies, whatever. Even donuts.
BUT - BUT - BUT the biggest kick in the teeth is the fast food restaurants who will gladly accept EBT/LINK for garbage food. YUM Brand fast food restaurants accept them as of 2011. I'm sure other chains have jumped on the bandwagon as well in the last five years.

I know I saw a sign at Pizza World a year or two back, saying they accept EBT as well.
For what we pay at KFC for three to four people to eat, I could easily make two full dinners for the same amount of people.
