One reason why these cameras are so widely used is because it removes the human factor. You cannot reason with the camera. You cannot plead your case to a camera.
I received one of these tickets in the mail from Ladue (Ballas Road near MoBap). I was in the area to visit my Uncle in the hospital, he had collapsed during a stress test and had to have an emergency quadruple bypass. At the time, I had a perfect driving record. I think that under the circumstances, an actual police officer would have let me go with a warning, if he even bothered to stop me in the first place.
When I got the ticket, I went online to watch the video. I wasn't speeding (they show you your speed). There were no other cars or pedestrians at the intersection. Had I crossed the white line about a second sooner, I would not have even received the ticket.
I was the one driving, and did pay the ticket, but was not happy about it.
I don't go to the area very often, but now that I know the cameras are there I am hyper-vigilent, and am suprised that I don't get rear ended.
