Liberal, I don't even want to get into this out of respect.

But I believe things have changed. I just read about the community coming together around a young man who left us too soon.

Demographic should not matter -- and it did not matter to the people who pitched in and helped.

Would this have happened in 1970? 1980?

Our diversity will do what it will. But I know that the hearts of our people will not limit who touches them by things such as race.

To me, that's the important thing.

Again, I am sorry to use this as an example -- but it is an example that shows time and again how beautiful the people of Granite City really are.
