We are at war right now correct, Thereby; our army is not "standing" (just from a technicality stand point)

I do not believe that we should be involved in all the BS we are involved in oversees. (For our current engagements we should have used the Air Force, to bomb the entire middle east back past the Carboniferous epoch)

Much of the spending our military does, is tad excessive. It should be our goal at the state level to form stronger militias, (AKA the national guard) and lessen our full time federal soldiers, even going so far as to move many of our full time troops to the reserves. This would be both constitutional, and less expensive.

That being said, unless you are yearning for some learning on how to speak Chinese, we need strong military corps, to help repeal invasion. We need to pursue technology that can defend the nation against ICBMs. After all, the constitution puts no restrictions on Naval spending, and I am willing to bet that most incoming ICBMs, will go over water first.

we are still powerless to our military.

No were are not, If in nearly ten years we can't hunt down and kill the 1000 people we are after in near stone aged civilization that about size of Texas, there is no way our military can control the people in this country, at least with there guns. That and the troops, officers especially, know better. After all, there allegiance is to the constitution.
