On the VW I made an "L" bracket and attached it to the pedal box. I attached a microswitch to the bracket and had it resting on the pedal so it would close its contacts when the pedal was depressed. Were I doing this again today I would use the generic brake light switch you can buy from BP Northwest. It's inexpensive and designed for the task. The only downside is I don't think they come with the mounting jam nut.
In other news, the wife's GT6 got 2nd place in the Spitfire/GT6 category at today's MG Car Club show. Lots of nice Triumphs to look at and lots of nice Triumph owners to hang out with.
