I saw one report that talked about "royal couple" and not the king, and it would be highly unusual if the issue of the heir could not take his place if he is somehow out of the picture. If it is true that he MUST be king before his children can succeed him, the monarchy would end if he died (or abdicated). I agree that the politicians are not very effective, but I would not pay too much attention to the excat wording of the law. The intent is that the King will be succeeded by the Crown Prince's oldest child, and if something in the present law prevents that, it will be changed just as fast as all the other laws has been and are beeing changed. Furthermore. There could be someting lost in the translation from Nepali to English?
: The newspaper columnists still haven't
: understood what their new law means. Crown
: Prince Paras *must* become King first,
: before his daughter can succeed. There is no
: indication that the law affects the line of
: succession after the first generation, i.e.
: anyone other than the children of the King.
: Until that is changed, the old system of
: succession remains as far as it concerns the
: second generation onwards.
:
I am not sure I understand your comment. Paras will be followed by his son?
