Actually with non-diected care then AA's cannot be used. There is a greater demand for cost savings and AA's are an option allowing a hospital to run 4 rooms with one MD and 4 CRNA's or 4 AA's (depending on the state). However a GREATER cost savings is for 5 people running 5 rooms. Not saying AA's are bad providers but NOT really cost effective relative to the current "supervision" model... which hospitals are eliminating due to cost. As long as the AA profession ties itself so tightly to the ASA it will be crippled and the potential grteatly limited.
