    If you read the article, the take-away point is that hospitals are trying to lower costs by using a mix of MDs and mid-level providers.

    In this case, a hospital in Washington State switched to a provider group of MDs and CRNAs.

    This article suggests that demand for midlevel providers (i.e. CRNAs and AAs) may increase.

    There is certainly nothing in the article that suggests the CRNAs could not be replaced by AAs in states where AAs are allowed to practice, especially since these CRNAs are being used to assist the doctors, just as an AA would be used.

    If the hospitals were switching to all CRNAs it would be news. In this case, however, AA can be substituted for CRNA as the service provided and cost is equal.
