Clinical experience generally involves patient contact. There is some grey area here though... A cardiopulmonary perfusionist has very little direct contact with patients, but he/she will operate machinery that keeps them alive and will be closely monitoring the patients vitals and reacting to them. A candy striper might be spending their entire day with patients, but they are hardly performing critical assesments and procedures related to their care.
Strike a balance between the value of the type of experience and the training required to get that experience and put as much time into it as possible to maximize its return.
Consider this, the main value of your current work is in understanding how healthcare delivery works at the operational level. If you can build on that with some experience with the medical side, you should be in good shape.
