DC it seems like you have an awesome scope of practice where you work. RNs manage the IABPs where i've done rotations and where i used to work. while ive received education on IABPs i dont know many places that allow RRTs to run them. the anesthesia techs in my area are OJT and have job descriptions worlds apart from yours. i knew some anesthesia techs that were housekeepers and did not have any didactic education, only technical. in other words, what good is it knowing how to obtain a wedge reading on a Swan if you dont know how that number relates to the clinical status? if i had known about anesthesia technologists and what they are trained to do, i think i would have chosen that route over RT, but sadly it seems that in my area anesthesia techs do not do even half of what you are able to do in your location. good luck
