'DD' fails to recognize the difference between "legal" ( which can change with lobbying as shown by the AANA) and adequate training/education for a task. AA's have the SAME amount of formal education as a CRNA. AA's are Mid-Level Providers. In fact, the "average" AA student does MORE cases than the "average" CRNA student. This is what I meant by "better training" of AA programs. As usual, 'DD' distorts the truth and alters the facts to suite her agenda (just like the AANA). CRNA's are not TRAINED to practiced "independently"; they are permitted to do so through "legislation" at the state level. Currently, AA's are limited to the ACT model but if medicine goes socialized in the future I expect AA's will obtain the same rights and privileges as CRNA's. Again, an AA is TRAINED to do everything a CRNA can do. All the AA's lack is the powerful union like the AANA.
