Yeah, a diagnosis doesn't do much for you unless you think you need therapy/intervention. Personally, mine got to a point where I definitely did need some professional intervention.
OCD 'jokes' used to bother me a lot, but now I sort of realise the reason they're so common is... it just is quite a relatable experience/feeling for many people (though there's danger in thinking just because it's relatable means they can fully understand it. Neurotypical people feeling that 'ocd-like' urge can decide to shake their head and laugh at themselves for having a silly quirk, and still go about their daily life without extreme pain and anxiety, but some of those people would be the ones who would tell teenage-me to 'just stop'. )
