Thank you very much for the helpful information. I suspect the ship you identified as the Groux is actually the Groix (ex Hoedic). Using the reference "The World's Merchant Fleets 1939" by Roger Jordan this vessel was operated by the Chargeurs Reunix, Compagnie Francaise De Navigation A Vapeur. The vessel was built in 1922 with particulars of 501 ft. long x 58 feet 11 inches of beam and 27 feet 10 inches of draft. Based upon dimensions in the reference book 5 possibly 6 vessels were all built to the same specifications in 1921 and 1922. These vessels were the Desirade, Formose, Foucauld. Groix, Jamaique, and Kerguelen (see picture on pg. 32 of the Kerguelen). The Kerguelen (renamed Winrich von Kniprode in German service) was captured by the Germans and slated for use in Operation Sea Lion. From 1940 to the January 1945 was used to transport German troops to and from Norway.
Note: I could find no reference to the Groux in Jordan's book.
So, it must have been thought to be worthwhile, to provide an identification model of this vessel with 5 sisterships built and one in service with the Axis.
A picture of the Groix can be seen here:
