The second photo is the British "B" Type cargo ship, similar to the Oceans, Forts and Parks ships. This model is not interchangeable between these choices as there were differences in all these classes of cargo ships. I see that Superior (ALNAVCO) added details like cowl vents ,winches, anchors, etc.
Incidentally, NO "B" Type ships were equipped as CATA-fighter ships. A sizzling bit of trivia for ship buffs to know.
The two models look like the recasts by Superior models.
The South Salem 16-ship set has 1 French,1 Swedish, a US Liberty Ship, a "Laker" type possessed by many, many nations before, during and after WWII. The "Trawler" is probably the only "generic" model in the set, although it has the look and characteristics of the 300-ton Japanese fishing vessel, as described in ONI208-J. All others are Japanese ships. Yes, all, except the trawler, definitely represent REAL ships. I sent Pete Paschall of ALNAVCO a copy of by definitive list of the South Salem set a few years back. I cannot print it out right now.
Were these 1/1200 models supposed to represent a specific class of vessel? If so what class did they represent.
