So Dave G went ahead and granted what at least a decent minority of all board users sometime back voted as what they wanted, a registered message board. I don't remember the exact vote, but my recollection was that there were 25% or more that wanted it. So here it is, and already in the first night, when you would think that people would be excited about getting to see who posts what, the results are interesting. By the read count, at least 50 people signed up for the new board, but nobody has said anything of substance.
Personally I don't mind the anonymous format of the regular board because I think people tend to open their mouths when they don't have to be accountable. Sometimes that can be a lot more interesting and insightful. But I am also for doing it this way too. I get a little tired of the invective, and maybe this side of the message board can be for folks that want to share information, perspective, results, upcoming events, etc. that don't need the emotive angle to provide for fascinating reading.
So I'll give it a shot, will you? If nobody starts posting on here, I will throw out a bunch of topic threads tomorrow evening that might loosen your typing tongues. Jedi's Wrestling Photos+ - http://www.jedicheetah.com

I agree with you, Jedi. The anonymity of the other board allows people to say things which may be controversial which just leads to more people posting. When you have to put a name with a post, people will probably follow the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule. I'm just glad Dave G is willing to put in the extra work (on top of the extra work of the original WWR) to accommodate the wishes of the minority of posters. -Falcon Vision W.F. This board is going to have to overcome a lot of momentum that the non-registration board already has. If someone wants to reach the most eyeballs, the other board is still going to be the choice. The only advantage to posting here would be for a serious policy discussion where you did not want to wade through the noise.
I got to admit I was getting pretty bored with the poster(s) that were just trying to stir things up on the other board.
I suspect that most of the Hi-Jackings came from the Fair Weather Fans who only show up at the end of the season when things heat up. Or when class is out. Most of those posters we'll not hear from till next year.

I agree. The last two weeks of the high school season really brings out the loonies. A couple of days after state they all dry up and go away until next year or you won't see them because their kid graduates and they won't have a thing to do with wrestling again (selfish pseudo-fan). The people that jump on me and try to judge me about the management of the board are the same people that when their kid graduates, they do nothing for wrestling. Just the way life is.
PS: My rant is over. Life goes on and it is time to move on as it's FREESTYLE SEASON!
Thanks Dave ...

It was fun sitting with you the other week and Bullsheeting about our former wrestling skills, our manliness, and general coaching expertise !!!
Also all the work you do here as well.... I appreciate it, and it's entertaining for the most part.
This is a good experiment, and maybe a hybrid of site#1 and site#2 would be the eventual result.

That was a good time getting to talk after all these years. What do you mean by "maybe a hybrid of site#1 and site#2" as the eventual result? Not sure I follow.
Making everyone sign up ..

And create a profile. Most of those late season (Mat Classic" terrorists would not have the inclination nor time to sign up. I suspect a lot of them are kids at school.
The effort to create a profile, that is viewable like the "New" "The Mat.com" keeps people more honest, and does weed out the simple 5 minute drive by, who can scoot from PC to PC and troll.
Granted, they can still use an alias and hide behind that, yet the need to create a profile will still slow many of them down.

And I know it sounds harsh, yet if you did dump an IP or two, and one of them happens to be a School Library ... I'll garrantee ya' that the other kids will figure it out, and peer preasure would come down on them like a ton of bricks. There were afternoons when you could almost tell when school was out, or study hall was in.

You mean "FREE" "STYLE". Glad to see a fellow supporter like Valkryie here! Tell Cully not to give up on us either. I enjoyed meeting him at "Mat Classic"

Oh you are so wrong! Freestyle just flows and reffing today I felt like I was back home.
My opinion is that freestyle favors the fast, athletically gifted kids while folkstyle would be more favored by the slower, really strong, grind them out kind of wrestler. Not slamming either wrestler style but we all know there are different types and the really good ones are good at all three styles.
