I hesitantly say that this could be helpful for teams that are short on playing time. If these teams which in many cases are teams that are weak, that particular season.. are trading their fourth, fifth and sixth round type of picks… there is a benefit. If these same teams which are weak that particular season or maybe historically weak and continually drafting for time. are dealing their first, second or third round picks then this will have a potential disastrous long-term impact on those teams. So in summation, I think if managed correctly by the teams trading their picks this could be a positive rule change. My hope would be that that is exactly what those teams do.
