As mentioned in the last podcast, and conversations I've had with a couple of other members, there seems to be a desire to increase the number of playoff teams per league from 5 to 6. This would essentially mirror the current major league system where the division winner with the lowest winning percentage would get the 3 seed and be forced to play in the wild card round with the three teams with the best record that did not win a division.

The arguments for this is that this year there were teams that missed the playoffs in both leagues that had better records than the last division winner. In years past we have been having a very weak division in one or both leagues. Would having an extra wild card encourage more teams to try? Despite not having a team miss the playoffs last year with a better record than the last division winner, there were teams in both leagues within 3 or 4 games.

We would continue to use the same format just with an extra 5 game series in the first round.

I would probably make a 2nd tier for free agency like we currently have for non playoff teams; above or below .500; the playoff teams would probably be .550 because that's a 90 win season.
