Hi Paul, sometimes numbers and letter will indicate a month and year of production, sometimes they are for the different sizes the pottery used (4 might mean a 12" platter, for example), and sometimes we just don't know! LOL. Also numbers were sometimes used to indicate how many of a particular piece would fit in one area of the kiln. Printed numbers (versus impressed) could also be the ID number of the person applying the transfer, so they would be paid for the pieces they did. In your case, I am not sure what the numbers meant, as my reference books don't indicate them for either maker. Sorry, I can't help more. Jeff
