I know I'm rather late to the party, but sometimes hot grease gets into cracks in the glaze. DO NOT use bleach! Try sealing the piece in a tightly covered (Tupperware-ish) container filled with beauty-supply peroxide. It's a bit stronger than the usual stuff and will get into the grease. To fill up the empty space and use less peroxide I sometimes have used round rocks. Soak for several weeks, then don't use the piece for food anymore as the glaze is compromised.
