Pictured bottom left is the front cover of a book published by Breese’s Bee of London manufacturers of ladies under garments such as stocking holders and suspender belts known as Hoven’s Clip. Inside the book though is a rhyme themed on the story of the Willow pattern which leads the reader to a final line which includes the use of “Hoven’s Clip”. This book was most likely published in the late 1800’s.
Of interest is the association that Alfred Breese had with the Willow pattern as pictured to the right from a newspaper dated 1889 he advertises a book on the Willow Pattern Plate and next to this advertisement he advertises his “Hoven’s Hose Holder”.
