My mother-in-law is a huge BWC lover, so she went to the trouble of transporting it, researching it, inventorying it, and storing it in her hutch for 10 years.
Now I am divorcing my wife (no worries... its amicable) and my mother-in-law again packed it, transported it, and (bless her heart) replaced a piece she accidentally broke.
Now she said she wants to buy a set for herself. Well, I have literally enough to make 6 complete settings for 8, so I would very much like to gift a set to her since I have so much.
I want to know which brand to gift. She's not a collector, she will probably end up using it a few times a year for holidays and such, and I don't want to give away really valuable stuff.
The brands I have are listed below. Can you kinda point out which ones might be the less-valuable? All of these were purchased no later than about 1965
Allertons, Ltd
Swinnertons Staffordshire "old willow"
John Steventon & Sons (crown logo)
"Made in England"
Johnson Bros. "A genuine hand engraving"
some with no markings at all
Royal China "willow ware"
Homer Laughlin "made in USA"
Then I have some random pieces in Shanango, Fenton, Heirloom, and Celebrate.
