Your platter is one of the newer pieces being made (I think in China, but I might be wrong), which is why you won't find the mark in any antique marks books. The mark is meant to resemble an old English mark featuring a lion and/or a unicorn. Some new marks look very much like the old English lion and unicorn mark, and are sometimes blurry to make you think the piece is old. The quality of these new platters, usually seen in red, black and blue, is very nice and I think the pattern is very well done. Enjoy your recent find!
