Hi Jack,
That is a workmen's mark consisting of a rosette with five petals. I have seen some with 8 petals attributed to Cambrian Pottery in Swansea, but yours is different. The pattern is Two Temples II variation Broseley. Many different potteries made the pattern. The quality looks excellent, but it is not possible at this time to give you an attribution as to maker.
