How far back in time can you remember events in your life?

I can recall a couple of things from my early childhood.Like making red Jello with sliced bananas with my grandfather.I had to stand in a chair at the kitchen table.There was no refrigerator so the pan of Jello was placed outside on the well box by the backdoor until it set. Every now and then I think of that and just have to make strawberry Jello with sliced bananas in it.The smell always takes me back to that first time I helped make it.
