Not with my whole family, but with Andrea and Amy, the two youngest ones.

My husband was working in Germany and his company paid to have the family join him, airfare paid, for two weeks. He was living in Munich so we joined him for two weeks.

We took one whole day and drove to Italy and back stopping in Innsbruck, Austria for dinner. It was like driving into different states all in a day and back hitting the corners, so to speak.

We also visited a couple of castles, which was exciting. Of course, trying out all the different restaurants and food was special in itself. We went to a beer garden as well. They served, along with beer, huge soft pretzels, which both girls loved.

We also saw the famous Glokenspeil. The clock with figurines that come out and twirl around on the hour. It was miraculously spared during the bombing in WWII.

It was sad when we left. Germany was beautiful.
