I always loved my mom's apple pie. When I asked her how she made it she'd say, Well, I take about (a number) of apples and almost a bowl of sugar and some cinnamon, etc. I guess she just did it by heart. I never made one.
My favorite way to eat them now is in Waldorf Salad. My sis-in-law made one and brought it over for Christmas dinner one year and it was so wonderful to have a cool, palate changing type of crunchy dish amongst all the heavy ones we had on our plates.
I like a peeled slice of apple with cheese as a summer snack.
The only way I like applesauce (unsweetened) is with a pork chop. Not fond of apple juice or cider either.
