I don't know if there ever will be a solution. Some of the homeless are mentally ill or physically ill. The mentally ill aren't put into mental hospitals like they used to be. Rene's son has a friend from grade school on who ended up schizophrenic and roams the streets. My son-in-law bought him a little tent, but he up and walked away from it and it got stolen. I think he had to end up really bad for this boy's dad to finally be able to have him committed. This went on for years. He refused to take medication and kept spiraling. Everyone I've known who'd been murdered by someone who was schizophrenic didn't take their meds, and the relatives couldn't have them committed. Not all are mentally ill, but some are alcoholic, others refuse to work.

Housing in California is so ridiculous that not many people in low-income jobs can afford to pay rent. Their children are the ones who suffer.

I don't know what the solution is.
