Most caterers and kitchen restaurant workers wear gloves around here.When I managed a kitchen the only time we wore gloves was when we had a bandaid on an injury.Post covid changed rules about glove wearing.

Pot lucks are usually with groups where everyone knows each other so in my opinion gloves are optional.At church dinners where you go through a line getting served the servers always wear gloves.

In my kitchen I wash my hands too much.I clean as I work thus hands are very clean.At big family gatherings and reunions we never wore gloves but of course those were before the pandemic standards were set.
