After my heart surgery, they fed me really bland food, and tiny portions. I didn't care as it all tasted like blah. Suddenly, about a week in, I was ravenous. I asked them for seconds on a soup. They brought me another soup (different flavor--) and it was like manna from Heaven. So yes, I think it depends on how sick you've been.
