The only forty watt bulbs I use are for a chandelier.When the power company wanted the twisted bulbs used they would give them away free.

My sweet brother worked for and retired from the power company.I would get the freebies and then he would give me more.I don't think I will ever need to buy bulbs for the rest of my life

As for safety issues he instructed me to not put them in a socket that was enclosed.I have even used them in a chandelier.k
