My favorite was Uncle Dean, my father's brother. He was what the word gentle-man means. He was kind, thoughtful and cared for his niece and nephews. my mother also loved him, which says a lot.
Here's a story. A few years ago, one of my father's second cousins, whom I met through genealogy research was contacted by another woman about a bible she found in a thrift shop. Because of her research on the internet, she connected the name in the bible to my cousin. She in turn gave the woman my name and address, being I was a relative, and the woman sent it to me.
Inside it was dedicated to my uncle from my mother, in her own handwriting. It was a gift of some kind. It now resides in my mother's cedar chest.
I wrote to the woman to thank her and asked how she found it. She says when she finds a bible in a thrift store, if it has a name in it, she'll research trying to find a relative to send it to.
How wonderful of that lady. My cousin and she both live in Oklahoma.
