1)I dont believe she shouldve been fired, and if she was going to post that she shouldve concealed the signiature and any info about the restaraunt.
2) Not once did she say anything about the party's race or religion, and the fact they tried to cheat the system. That is what she was upset about.
3)NewOver, you know I heart you, and you are entitled to your opinion, but by mentioning "black church groups are the worst" is offensive.
I waitressed for many years.. and Im sorry but stereotyping like that makes me sick.. i only turned down a Table once in my waitressing career, and it was because something they were wearing set off my allergies and I couldnt breathe.
When from the beginning you think youre not going to get a good tip your attitude and service changes and the guest senses that. I have a story about that..
I was working at Chili's and the hostess comes to me stressed out "Stephanie will you please take this birthday party? No one else will take it" my response ( without even seeing the party) "Yea Ill take it, why wont they take it? How many people?" she replies " 10, they say the party wont tip" ( they were African american) and I told her " Ill take it, and mention this to the manager" It was a surprise for the birthday girl who arrived later.. I went all out for this party, i felt horrible that they had to wait because people were ignorant. i bought her a drink, and a dessert and got everyone to sing Happy birthday. At the end, her mother hugged me and thanked me for making her daughter's birthday so special, that she was a breast cancer survivor and wasnt expected to live to see her 25th birthday, so celebrating her 30th was a big deal..
At that point I didnt care if they stiffed me. That was enough. while walking out, several people slipped folded bills into my apron, with the tip and the extras, I walked away with nearly $200, and a new group of regulars.
Every server that turned down the party was written up, and a new rule was put into effect that turning down a table for any reason would result in immediate termination. And thats how it should be. Racism, discrimination of any kind should be a Zero Tolerance thing. Its un called for, and I agree with Darnell. If I feel like im being judged from the minute I walk through the door, because Im overweight, or I have my kid, or my anxiety/ocd issues, Im not going to tip as much. The hug and thank you from her mom meant more to me than the money. It made me ashamed that some of these other servers were my friends.
The guest was in the wrong for not tipping if the service was good, and the server was in the wrong for posting it up..
Those are my thoughts

: @:NewOver,
: Maybe it's not a racial issue, but
: let me ask, if people discriminated against
: YOU for your orientation, how would that
: feel? I tip, but that kind of remark makes
: it harder to want to. It makes me wonder if
: I'm being judged every time I happen to
: leave a penny less than what a white
: person(assuming you are) thinks I should.
