to make a pot of soup?

We only hit mid 80's today, humidity is kinda high so it's sticky indoors.
I had potatoes with sprouts growing, so I opted for a pot of soup.

I cook on a hot plate very often since it's cooler than the range top...plus it's next to a kitchen window so some of the heat blows outdoors.
Ham and potato soup and garlic toast....Sunday dinner.
