Hi ~ Connie, For years I have had issues with them too and will usually put

the content into another bag or container, because

plastic bags with those types of zippers

are completely useless and I have bad hands and fingertips

and I just can't do anything with the bag, once I come home from the grocery store

There have been times, I've had to cut the top off

of the bag, just to transfer the content into something else, so it will not spoil.
